Teaching Little Ones: A Fulfilling Experience in Life-Saving Skills

Teaching Little Ones: A Fulfilling Experience in Life-Saving Skills

Teaching young minds is always a fascinating experience. Their curiosity, eagerness to learn, and ability to grasp new skills make every moment worthwhile. I recently had the privilege of conducting a life-saving skills training session for Scouts & Guides, Junior Red Cross (JRC) members, and other student groups at a primary school in Cherukara - my very own village.

The enthusiasm of these young learners was truly inspiring. A total of 87 students participated in the program, eager to understand and practice essential emergency response techniques. Alongside me, Dr. Supriya, Dr. Neethu, Dr. Kamal, Dr. Shebin, and Ms. Shahana joined as instructors, making the session engaging and interactive.

This initiative was organized by Aster MIMS Calicut, IMA CGP Kozhikode, and EMS Hospital Perintalmanna. The combined effort of these institutions ensured that the students received quality training in basic life support (BLS), first aid, and emergency response strategies.

Seeing young students confidently learning CPR, bleeding control, and airway management was heartening. Their willingness to engage in hands-on training and ask insightful questions showed the importance of integrating such programs into school curriculums.

This experience reaffirmed my belief that emergency preparedness should start young. Equipping children with life-saving skills empowers them to act effectively in crisis situations, potentially making a difference in their communities.

Cherukara holds a special place in my heart, and training the next generation there was not just an opportunityĆ¢€”it was an honor. I hope to see these young learners grow into responsible citizens, ready to make a difference when it matters most.

A Weekend to Remember: Cherished Moments in Wayanad

A Weekend to Remember: Cherished Moments in Wayanad

Some days in life become etched in our hearts forever, and this weekend was one such time- a vacation filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of togetherness. Neethu and Kamal, our beloved children, joined us for a getaway to Wayanad, and what followed was nothing short of magical.

We spent our days at Maple Ash Resort, an exotic retreat surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and the soothing sounds of nature. The fresh mountain air, the chirping birds, and the tranquil environment made it a perfect escape from our busy schedules.

Adding to the joy, Kamal’s father and mother also joined us, making the trip even more special. Every moment spent together- be it the peaceful walks through the resort, the deep conversations, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature-felt precious.

Wayanad has a way of making memories more vivid, of slowing time just enough for us to live through the moments rather than just experience them. It was’t just a vacation; it was a celebration of love, family, and the simple joys of being together.

This trip will remain one of the most memorable days of our lives, a reminder that happiness is found in the company of our loved ones, amidst the beauty of nature. Wayanad, with its serene charm, gifted us an unforgettable experience - one that we will cherish forever.

ACCESS Course 8.0: Elevating Nursing Skills Through Hands-On Training

ACCESS Course 8.0: Elevating Nursing Skills Through Hands-On Training

Continuous learning is the key to excellence in healthcare, and nurses play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality patient care. ACCESS Course 8.0, a comprehensive skills updation training program for nurses, was yet another milestone in this journey of professional growth. Organized by Aster MIMS, this four-day program focused on 64 essential clinical skills, ensuring hands-on learning for the participants.

I had the privilege of designing and implementing this well-structured course, aimed at enhancing practical competencies and boosting confidence in nursing professionals. Dr. Prem Sankar has been instrumental in coordinating the previous editions of this program, and for this 8th edition, Dr. Sarika took the lead in ensuring its smooth execution. A special acknowledgment goes to Mrs. Sheelamma, CNO, whose unwavering support made it possible to successfully complete all eight editions of the ACCESS Course in the most effective way.

The structured, hands-on approach of the training ensured that every participant gained practical proficiency in critical nursing interventions. The feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the impact of the course on their confidence and skill levels.

ACCESS Course 8.0 reaffirmed the importance of continuous skill enhancement in nursing, and it was truly rewarding to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants. As we move forward, we remain committed to empowering healthcare professionals with the knowledge and expertise they need to provide exceptional patient care.

Historic Moments – 12 Years Ago

Some moments are destined to stay with us forever, etched in our hearts—moments when time seems to slow down, when honor meets tradition, and respect transcends generations.

In the heart of Thalassery, at the home of Raghavan Master, we gathered to honor a legend—a man whose life's work has inspired countless souls. The IMA Cultural Wing of KSB came together to celebrate his immense contributions, his music, and his enduring spirit.

Dr. K.A. Sreevilasan, Chairman of the Cultural Wing KSB, along with Dr. Baby Supriya, the Convenor of the Cultural Wing, led this heartfelt tribute. Dr. Sreevilasan's words resonated with deep gratitude as he personally acknowledged Raghavan Master’s legacy in a manner that touched the soul.

It was during this memorable gathering that Raghavan Master, at the remarkable age of 90, graced us with his timeless creation "Kayalarikathu". His voice, carrying the weight of decades of musical brilliance, filled the room with emotion. It was a performance that transcended music—it was history brought to life.

This moment was made possible through the efforts of the great singer, Mr. V.T. Murali, whose dedication ensured this historic meeting became a reality.

In that brief but powerful moment, we were reminded that honoring a mentor and a musician is not just a ceremony—it is a celebration of wisdom passed down through the years, of lives transformed, and of a community forever grateful.

It was a moment destined to live on—a tribute to Raghavan Master and a testament to the legacy of knowledge, culture, and kindness that he so gracefully embodies.
