Pain management in ED

Lot emphasis was done on concepts on pain management in ED. In general clinicians are nog so keen tp relieve pain either acute or chronic. Some ignorance or lack of confidence may lead to the scenario. More than 75 percent people leave ER without getting adequate pain relief. Pain id subjective and-and is the subject of those who were suffering it. Clinicians are still afraid to use opioids to relieve pain. Opioids are the best one to relieve both acute and chronic pain. Tramadol is the one drug rampantly using. Infact it is a useless drug and creating more complications.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3004630/

September 1st message ...

DNB emergency medicine faculty development work shop at New Delhi.
DNB emergency medicine is a silver line in the history of Indian em . Kerala state has got highest numbers of  DNB seats (32) in the initial accreditation(Miem Calicut  8 ,Mes medical college Perintalmanna  8, Pushpagiri medical college Thiruvalla 8 and Kims trivandrum 8 seats ). It reflects that em awareness and em developments are reached in a different pace in this small state in a short span of time .Proudly  can say the Kerala state take a huge lead in EM perspectives in a short span of time , even if Em started 15 years ago in Hyderabad .In  Kerala , em speciality has got a public face and ordinary people aspire , accept and assist the em speciality. Such a beautiful public face for  em is not seen any where in India.  GWU partnership ,  ANGELS community em movements , MIMS , EMCON 13, Iiems and prof.mohandas, Prof. C . Raveendran, Dr.Azad Moopen, Dr.George Abraham, Dr.Tamorrish Kole, Dr.Boby Kapoor ,Dr.Jeffry ,Dr.PB Salim IAS and many more did a pivotal role in high pace take off emergency medicine speciality in Kerala. We witnessed the transformation of Kerala casualties to modern emergency rooms in a fast face. Government has also started to recognize em as a thrust area. Calicut medical college is moving forward to establish  higher end em setting . First batch MD emergency medicine  students will come out of course this year . Average life support awareness is very high  among Keralites.

Mangalam write up

Dear all
Please find the link in leading news paper in Malayalam- an exclusive Story focusing on  EM in Kerala and also focusing my personal contributions.  It a big honor and inspiration for a person like me.  May be this God's decision. When I was leaving  my original  specialty anesthesiology  in 2006 and  jumped into new a speciality which is not even identified by medical world including  authorities..... I never expect this will grow to this level. Many  people strongly discouraged me and asked about the foolishness to  change the basic profession at age of  40s. Many hundreds of hurdles... Many sleepless nights. Now,  when  I am looking back,  I proudly say ... I was  not wrong. Many hundreds  of people  helped me whole heartedly. Many more.. continue to do. Emcon was an example. Even if the write up has came out with a personal  focus (I never asked about that) ,  the  great aspect is I will be a boost for upcoming EM doctors and specialists. It is sign that society is recognising people from doctors community in a big way. They gave me a celebrity status. May be first time in India,  A EM doctor is getting  great importance.  It is a great privilege and huge responsebility. l am Bound to  to do more... Whatever  the way I can.. I started my profession by making sleep patients and now I am trying to  people  to wake up...

Big thanks to  editor Sajeevan and reporter Harish and photographer.
