Mooppada Home : A complete go green concept home in my home village

I have an ancestral property in Cherukara, precisely on the Cherukara-Chelamala road near the Aligarh University campus in Cherukara-Elamkulam village ( Malappuram District). Originally, my grandfather owned this property, then transferred it to my father and eventually to me. When I inherited it, it was a “Mottakunnu,” barren except for numerous rocks, without a single tree. Fifteen years ago, I promised my father that, God willing, I would build a home on it.

This land is imbued with my childhood memories, including my life there and our affection for plants and domestic animals. Now, a dream has been realized. We have just formally moved into our dream “Mooppada Home.” The construction took seven months to complete, adhering to a theme that did not disturb the natural environment.

We preserved all the soil, rocks, and plants, protecting nature as it is. The property utilizes solar energy and natural water sources. The house is built in an “Erumadam” style but includes all modern amenities. All construction materials were used as pre-fab technologies. Currently, we spend our weekends here.

My brother, Mr.Peethambaran, a civil engineer, led the construction with support from Mr. Shibu (construction- Krishna Engineering works -Anamagadu )and another individual named Shibu(SK Interiors, Ottappalam). Solar power: John Technomake.

Sundariye.... Sundariye

This performance was staged at the IMA Kozhikode as part of the New Year celebration in 2024.

All credit for the motivation to do this performance goes to my better half and star dancer, Dr. Supriya. Sudhi Kadalundi was the choreographer, and his team supported us in the chorus. The songs from the movies Oru Maravathoor Kanavu ( Sundariye) and Kudukku ( Theyithaka )

The success of any group art performance hinges on teamwork. Some elements, like song and background selection, occurred spontaneously in this performance. The highlight was the impromptu choreography, seamlessly matching the steps to the song and setting. Mr. Sudhi Kadakundi excels in this area with his expertise and experience. We garnered significant appreciation and applause from the audience. Ultimately, such performances outside our professional realm provide immense joy and a meditative experience.

Fourth ED NABH Excellence consecutively ,Aster MIMS ED

 https://youtube.com/shorts/RGVwMKK02nU?si=9OnLgbuQ-YracClt

Quality accreditation is a crucial step towards achieving excellence. In India, specific excellence accreditation for emergency departments was initiated by NABH in 2016. Five of the first seven EDs in India are Aster institutes. I had the privilege of playing an instrumental role and leading the marathon process of ED accreditation.

The first two accredited EDs were Aster Medcity Kochi and Aster MIMS Calicut. In Karnataka, Aster CMI became the first accredited ED, while DMWIMS became the first medical college ED accredited with NABH Excellence. Aster MIMS Kottakkal became the first accredited rural emergency department.

In 2018, I received the Quality Champion award from the EM Quality Forum. These efforts significantly raised awareness about the importance of quality accreditation in emergency departments, and many more Indian EDs followed suit. The quality accreditation of EDs proved to be invaluable in the management of the Calicut plane crash in 2020, which occurred against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am writing this note on the occasion of receiving the fourth consecutive NABH EM Excellence accreditation for Aster MIMS Calicut. This achievement fills us with immense pride and privilege. As Professor Varma always used to say, "Staying on the top of Mount Everest is much more difficult than climbing Everest," and this holds true for quality accreditation as well. Maintaining accreditation and consistently striving for excellence is of paramount importance, and Aster MIMS ED has successfully accomplished this herculean task.
