1983 : I received my first appreciation award from Prof. ANNA MANI, head of department, social and preventive medicine for conducting first 10 day camp at Peruvayal Panchayath and conducted community survey. We constructed 10 latrines with help of SPM department for villagers where the facilities was not available. Photo by famous professional photographer Mr.Punaloor Rajan. Thank you DR. This was the team National Service Scheme of Calicut medical college (1983 to 84). I was the NSS coordinator during this tenure. We the first NSS unit of calicut medical college conducted 10 day camp in the CMC history. We adopted Peruvayal Panchayath and did a comprehensive health survey and did health care interventions with help of community medicine department. Prof .Anna Mani was hod and prof.CKJ panickar was principal. Their support was tremendous. This Nss team did a "bug hunt " in Kuthira vattom mental hospital. The health and hygienic condition was so pathetic on those days. This photo was so excited me when seeing again. My social initiatives were started from here .May this was my first social initiative in my life. I must be so thankful to Dr.MN Anvarudheen who introduced me to NSS.
