Dear Venu

Development of EMS had many trials and tribulations which unfortunately continue to plague us even today. It is because of commitment and leadership you and your colleagues have shown, the torch of cause of the injured and those critically ill, irrespective of socio- economic status, are still burning bright and showing the path to our health care delivery planners.

The role of State of Kerala in this leadership role to the rest of the country, can not be denied. Indeed in health sector, Kerala and its citizens have shown the way to the rest of the country.

Through this communication, I would like to convey to your colleagues that in the recent Expert Committee formed by the present Health Minster for various reforms process in medical education-including its Governance, the importance of EMS Education and Training has been taken into account and shall have its place as one of major medical specialty, through various radical reforms process in PG medical education, recommended to the Ministry.

Association For Trauma Care of India, established in 1982 is perhaps the only National Body in the World, where both Medical and Non medical professionals have come together to address the very cause you all have been committed towards. On my personal behalf and on behalf of the Association, I convey full support and appreciation for the wonderful achievements you and your colleagues have attained.

With Warm Personal Regards

Great news, Venu. While you mentioned several names in your letter, your own efforts and contributions are the ones that made the difference; in fact I am looking forward to the day when EM and Venugopal will become synonymous. Onwards, EM soldier!
Congrats and best wishes

Dear Venu,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful news about the multiple DNB positions in Kerala, and specifically the 8 seats at MIMS. These DNB seats represent an enormous advancement in the recognition of our specialty in India at the national level and highlight the leading role physicians and hospitals in Kerala have served to train the future EM specialists in India.  You have served at the forefront of this movement and I congratulate you on this and all your successes.  Most importantly, you have instilled a professionalism and integrity within the individuals you have trained and the colleagues you have worked alongside.  I still remember very fondly the 1st day we launched the EM training program at MIMS, and your enthusiasm has never diminished!  I look forward to seeing the continued accomplishments at MIMS, in Kerala and across India.

With warm regards,
Bobby

Em in kerala Gauttham bodywalla to Gautam sen

Dear Gautam

Thank you for your very encouraging email to Venu and your clear understanding of trials and tribulations of EM. I personally found it very supporting particularly when it comes from a senior practitioner like you.

We faced the same problems in the UK when we were at an early stages. I have witnessed the same going round the world during my world presidency. The most important thing is as you know to recognise geographical, cultural and disease related needs which leadership in India knows very well.

EM in India is still in its infancy but has progressed beyond one's wildest imagination which boils down to the vision of those who started the Society, who recognised the need for providing quality emergency care and the continued commitments of past and present leadership for developing it further to the desired level. EM is unique in requiring support and understanding from all specialties and leadership from other medical branches. Being of an Indian origin (and still Indian at heart) and some one for whom EM is a religion, I thank you for your untiring support for EM in India.

I am looking forward to meeting you again soon.

Best wishes

Gautam
